Digital Deity founder and President Risteen Gates holds a bachelor degree in management and masters degrees in media studies and philosophy. One week, while attending a conference in a haunted mansion turned meeting facility, the atmosphere told him it was time to follow an old dream of becoming a writer. The result was the creation of his first novel Apparition.

Believing that while time is a luxury the lack of it should not deprive people of a good story, Risteen founded Digital Deity. In founding Digital Deity, Risteen's desire was to create audio-visual novels rather than simple movies and television programming.
